For centuries, the Orkney islands have been at the heart
of the sea-going highways of the North Atlantic, and for
generations the fastest route from the South East of Britain
to the North-West was by sea, via the waters of the Pentland
Firth, and Cape Wrath.

Today the waters around Orkney attract ocean-going yachts
and visitors who want to take pleasure trips to watch wildlife
including seals, dolphins and even whales. Scapa Flow is
one of the best wreck diving sites in Europe and many charter
companies operate dive trips to the wrecks of the German
High Seas Fleet, scuttled here on 21st June, 1919.

Orkney has many beautiful sheltered anchorages and magnificent
coastal scenery.

You will be welcome ashore, visit our restaurants and pubs
to enjoy superb Orkney seafood, beef, ale and whisky. Take
home some exquisite Orkney designer jewellery, knitwear
or ceramics.
