Ferries

If you drive, or take a bus or train to the North of Scotland you can then cross over to Orkney using one of the following Ferries
Northlink Ferries operate between Aberdeen and Kirkwall and also Scrabster and Stromness. For timetables and prices, refer to the website www.northlinkferries.co.uk

Pentland Ferries also operate between Gills Bay in Caithness and St Margaret's Hope, 7 days a week. Their timetable and prices can be found at www.pentlandferries.com

A passenger only ferry operates between John O'Groats and Burwick 7 days a week during the summer months, operated by John O'Groats Ferries. The website can be found at www.jogferry.co.uk

The Ba', a great Orkney tradition, is a rugby-like game played with a hand crafted leather Ba’ and takes place twice a year on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in the streets of Kirkwall. Up to 200 Uppies and Doonies battle for several hours to gain the trophy watched by huge crowds of locals and visitors.
